Bruce Johnson is originally from the Midwest (Illinois and Missouri), but the pull of the Rocky Mountains took him to Colorado, where he has lived for the past 45 years. He and his wife Marcia live on an 18 acre “hobby ranch” south of Berthoud, where he irrigates and grows hay. For the past 30 years he has been involved with the irrigation ditch company, having formerly served as President for 10 years.
He and Marcia, a retired music teacher, perform and host a monthly Music Open Stage at the Left Hand Grange #9 in Niwot, where he first met George Ray Russell. Bruce is the current Secretary and former President of the Grange. He travels with and plays guitar and harmonica for George.
Bruce is a retired civil engineer, having worked in the private sector, and local and State government in Colorado. He is interested in water resources, rural affairs, and community organizations. He enjoys country/western music and dancing; and enjoys the culture of the West – music, history, art, literature and poetry. While he lives in Colorado, he is drawn to explore the prairie and the hills of Kansas and Nebraska. He loves being a grandpa to two beautiful little girls, Jolie and Sierra.
